I watched American Pickers and this happened…

Last month a found a small side table at a yard sale that was begging for a makeover. (The table, not the yard sale!)

How’s this for a style contrast? Glittering cut glass on a crude, pine scrap table. Why didn’t I buy the bowl?!

It brought back great memories of camping in Maine, so I planned to paint it a bright, vacation-y sort of color. In the meantime, I watched nearly an entire season of American Pickers on Amazon Prime.

And this happened…

Looks like I stole it off someone’s back porch.

I slopped on four coats of chalk paint and multiple coats of wax.

Faux patina aged entirely by my aching arm.

My arm got wobbly from sanding, but I’m really pleased with the results.

Aged to perfection?

As much as I love it, it’s just not my style. It’s heading to Pettengill Farm in a few weeks for the June Vintage Bazaar. I hope someone else falls in love and takes it home!

UPDATE: Someone did indeed fall in love with this little table and swoop it away. It didn’t even last until lunchtime on the first day of The Vintage Bazaar in June. Yay! On the other hand, the quilt behind it was completely ignored. 😦
