Starting the week off in vintage dish towel style

I’m really thankful I have a dishwasher, but I’ll be darned if I didn’t fall hard for a full week of embroidered cotton dish towels. I couldn’t resist grabbing them up–they’d never been used. The cross stitched days of the week aren’t terribly attractive, but that’s not all they’ve got going for them.

week of embroidered vintage dish towels

Are you looking forward to a week of drying dishes? These towels might change your mind.

Each towel has a colorful daily reminder to eat your veggies. Fresh, not canned!

Sunday tomato Monday eggplant embroidered towels

The start of a great ratatouille!

So much work was put into these, and then they were tucked away.

Tuesday red pepper embroidered dish towel

Wish I had some red peppers to roast. They’re so awesome on slices of Italian bread. Is your mouth watering yet?

Did the recipient think they were “too good” to use just for every day?

Wednesday embroidered carrots vintage dish towel

Crunchy carrots with feathery tops. Now I want ranch dressing for dipping!

I would have a hard time using these for drying dishes, too. I couldn’t bear tossing them in the washer and ruining their crispy newness.

Thursday embroidered corn vintage towel

Is there anything as delicious as fresh picked corn? Well, maybe ripe peaches…

Wouldn’t they be cute displayed, though?

Friday embroidered mushrooms vintage towel

Just add steak! Or add lots of cream to make soup.

Just picture them hanging in your kitchen! No kidding!

vintage Saturday dish towel embroidered with green beans

My grandmother used to make a delicious soup with green beans and sour cream. I’m going to have to try that again soon!

You might just get the chance to own them–they’re headed to The Vintage Bazaar with me in September. It’s only a few weekends away!

And I would love to have scans of the embroidery, because they would be fun and manageable cross-stitch projects for my kids’ class. 🙂

That’s a great idea! I’ll take ’em to work with me tomorrow. Nothing like making PDFs of kitchen towels on a photocopier…
