Whoop! It’s our (belated) blog birthday!

Our one year blog birthday just sort of sneaked by us last week while we were at The Vintage Bazaar. Late or not, we must have a cake! And a candle! And jadeite! And a “new” tablecloth!

It’s a tiny birthday, so we’ve got a tiny cake with one bitty candle. And yes, that IS a drip of jadeite paint on my kitchen wall. You would never have seen it if I hadn’t pointed it out. Darn!

We’re not getting fancy. This cake is posing on my kitchen table. I bought the tablecloth at The Vintage Bazaar from Nancy The Linens Lady. (Basically, I want to buy her entire booth.)

Banana Pecan cake. Yes, I'm tempting you to bake one of your own!

Yummmmm! Isn’t it looking delish?

The 6″ cake is a fragrant Banana Pecan number with a thick dusting of powdered sugar. (Truth be told, I don’t really like icing. I scrape it off. So why put it on in the first place?) Recipe courtesy of Martha, here.

I’d say I’m sorry you’re not here to get a slice, but I’m not really sorry. More for me! Ummm…Sorry!

The cake stand was made by Mosser Glass. The plate is vintage Fire-King restaurant ware.

vintage Wilendur tablecloth

Feast your eyes on this Wilendur tablecloth! I think those are poinsettias, but they look like a party at any time to me.

So how does it feel to be one? I think we’re at the toddler stage–we fall over, then get up and bobble along some more. The numbers in our stats aren’t exactly calling for champagne, but we always have a steady stream of loyal readers (Hi, Mom! Hi, Cynthia!) and we’re still having fun. So thanks for joining us, even if there wasn’t enough cake to go around!

    Happy Blogiversary!!

One year is a milestone,I find not as many people in blogland as when I started out, too many other options to take up our time!!

I’d like a piece of cake!

Thank you, Jill! We’re finding fewer and fewer bloggers, too. Facebook, Twitter, even Instagram are so much faster. Will we make it to birthday number 2? Stay tuned…

  3. Happy Birthday! I always read your blog to your brother, too. It is good to know what is going on in your lives. Love the pictures you posted of the bazaar last week. Joel says, “Eat a piece of cake for me.” (He does not like frosting, either.)

Hi, Cynthia! Hope you’re all doing well and found a topic for your thesis! We’re on cake number two, plus birthday cake and ice cream for Dale.

Gah! I’m always late to the party! And now the cake is all gone! I’ll have to make my own. Let’s see what I can come up with . . .

Apple cake? This morning I was kicking myself for leaving that Fire-King apple casserole behind. It would be great for something with granny smith apples and a crumbly cinnamon topping. And whipped cream…

  5. It’s your birthday party have another slice! The cake looks as delish as that tablecloth. Happy bloggy birthday!
